The Tent
Thoughtfully redesigned in 2025, the Kōwhai Tent captures the essence of slow living. Inside, you'll find an indoor fireplace, polished floors and soft layers of natural linen. The design is cosy yet refined, with moody hues, tactile materials, and framed hilltop views through glass doors that open to the deck. The tent is fully insulated with double-glazed glass throughout, keeping you cosy in every season.
Outside, a native landscape design invites you to unwind. Soak in the twin claw foot baths overlooking the valley, share stories by the firepit, or cook under the stars in your private outdoor kitchen.

Getting There
The unsealed track up to the Kōwhai Tent is steep — a 4WD or AWD vehicle is required. If you don't have one, no problem at all. Guests are welcome to borrow our Suzuki Jimny free of charge. Just let us know ahead of your arrival and we will have it ready and waiting.
From the carpark it is a short 120m walk uphill to the tent, so pack light and wear comfortable shoes.

Reserve Your Stay
The Kōwhai Tent is fully off-grid. Water is gas-heated and power packs are supplied for small devices. Solar lighting throughout.
A short walk uphill from the carpark (approx. 120m). The track is steep, so pack light. A 4WD or AWD is required. Guests are welcome to borrow our Suzuki Jimny free of charge if needed.
There's excellent mobile and 4G coverage from the hilltop. We recommend leaving the phone in your bag, the views are better.
